Today is the first match of the Teen Tournament semi-finals, straight from Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. One of these three students will go on to be a Teen Tournament finalist and have a shot at really big bucks: Catherine Briley, a senior from Grand Prairie, LA; Ben Greenho, a junior from Plano, TX. and Eliza Scruton, a junior from Louisville, KY.

The girls went straight to work and were tied at $1,200 when Catherine found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double before the first commercial break in “Books.” Polite Catherine said, “Mr. Trebek, I think I’d like to make this a true Daily Double.” She did and she was RIGHT.

Catherine finished in the lead with $6,800. Eliza was second with $5,200 and Ben was in last place with $3,000.

In the Daily Double round, Ben got to work and swept through the category “Theater,” taking over the lead. He also found the first Daily Double under $2,000 in that category. He now had $7,000 while the girls’ scores remained the same. He only bet $1,000, much to his regret when he saw the clue. He was RIGHT.

Ben found the last Daily Double in “B.C.-ing You.” He no longer had the lead and was in second place with $2,800 less than Catherine. He bet $2,400 this time and he was RIGHT.

Catherine finished in the lead with $18,000. Ben was right behind her with $17,600 and Eliza was last with $6,400.

Catherine giggled happily as her correct response and $17,601 bet were revealed. She finished with $35,601. So Catherine, who was one of the Wild Card winners, is now officially a finalist. She played a great game.
