Wheel of Fortune: Hawaii Week

Here are the bonus puzzles from Wheel of Fortune (May 1 – May 5, 2017), Hawaii Week.

The top prize amounts are listed as well as the top prize amount from the Jeopardy! episode that same day. The puzzle solutions are at the bottom.

5-1-17 Wheel: $29,200 + $0 On Jeopardy: $14,800
Marion Illouz on Wheel of Fortune (5-1-2017)
Marion Illouz only got one consonant out of her letter picks. Isn’t it funny how the last word is usually easy enough but, once again, deciphering the first word in 10 seconds wasn’t happening. Marion missed out on a Mustang convertible.

5-2-17 Wheel: $13,833 + $0 On Jeopardy: $25,601
Claudia Mendoza on Wheel of Fortune (5-2-2017)
Claudia Mendoza got one consonant out of her letter picks and the vowel A, which she had to know was there. There’s a lesson to remember: don’t pick a letter you’re sure of. With no other help, she missed out on an extra $34K.

5-3-17 Wheel: $16,705 + $0 On Jeopardy: $20,401
Cassandra White on Wheel of Fortune (5-3-2017)
Cassandra White only got a K from her letter selections. It helped with the last word. For the second time this week, a Mustang convertible was picked but not won.

5-4-17 Wheel: $27,550 + $0 On Jeopardy: $21,201
Jeannine Rajan on Wheel of Fortune (5-4-2017)
Jeannine Rajan got 3/4s of her letters (an M, P and O) and she was able to figure out the first two words. The last word was a compound word, difficult to work through, as Pat Sajak observed. So she didn’t pick up an extra $34K. Nonetheless, she had the second highest payout so far this week.

5-5-17 Wheel: $11,900 + $0 On Jeopardy: $13,001
Sara Bacchetta on Wheel of Fortune (5-5-2017)
Sara Bacchetta got 2 Ds and her vowel out of her selections. Oddly enough, she got the last word even though Pat Sajak had remarked on the difficulty of compound words yesterday. It was the first word that proved too challenging and cost her an extra $34K.
