Victoria successfully picked one H and one A. That left her with too many blank spaces and

Joe got a K and an I out of his letters. Choosing that I for his vowel turned out to be

for him. On the other hand, an O probably would have been, too. He lost out on an extra $36,000.

Jennifer could only add two D’s to her already sparse bonus puzzle. You could see that wasn’t going to go anywhere and it turned out to be

How horrendous! A different vowel might have done the trick but you can’t know these things in advance. So there was no reason to feel bad about the lost $36,000.
