Wheel of Fortune: Week of 5-13-2019

It’s Wheel of Fortune, America’s Game and we’re posting the Bonus Puzzle with the winner’s final prize amount. By way of comparison, the Jeopardy! payoff is also included with a link to the recap of that game.

Theme: America the Beautiful

Mon 5-13-19 $26,500
On Jeopardy: $7,599 (tournament score)
Rae on Wheel of Fortune (5-13-2019)
Rae didn’t get any help at all from the letters she chose. The second word was obvious to everyone. With no letters showing in the first word, it was akin to
T H _ _ W _ _ G _ A _ T S B L _ _ _ F O L _ E _
The missed prize was $36,000.

Tue 5-14-19 $18,548
On Jeopardy: $18,801 (tournament score)
Anna on Wheel of Fortune (5-14-2019)
Anna successfully picked one H and two Ps. They were all in the first word so
_ H E C U _ _ E _ _ _ _ E _ D
continued: one word was too hard to figure out and the usual suspect was on the card ($36,000).

Wed 5-15-19 $29,300
On Jeopardy: $19,201 (tournament score)
Rex on Wheel of Fortune (5-15-2019)
Rex got a G and two I’s from his letter choices. At this point, we don’t know whether
_ O L _ U _ _ O _ C _ Y
These were the only letters he already knew were in there. Why waste a consonant and vowel pick on them? Just suppose you chose an A here and it wasn’t there. By process of elimination, you could be reasonably sure of an O or U, and you would also know the middle word was not “at.” Of course, that won’t guarantee you’ll solve the puzzle in 10 seconds but it sure as heck would give you a better chance. Oh yeah, the card was another $36,000.

Thu 5-16-19 $22,650
On Jeopardy: $20,400 (tournament score)
Abrianna on Wheel of Fortune (5-16-2019)
Abrianna added one H and one O to the bonus puzzle but nothing to the first word. That was not surprising after
I _ _ A S R _ V _ A L _ _
When you look at the vowel and consonant arrangement there, Abrianna didn’t have much of a chance at that $36,000 on the card. It was just a tough puzzle.

Fri 5-17-19 $30,300
On Jeopardy: $100,000 (tournament prize)
Paul on Wheel of Fortune (5-17-2019)
Paul got three O’s out of his letter choices so he certainly picked the right vowel. All the same, he got hung up on the first two words of the phrase
_ A R T _ _ L _ N _
to make the switch to the right words. He lost out on the $36,000, but he did have the top payout of the week.
