Secret Life: When Opportunity Knocks
Lots of crazy stuff happened in the June 27, 2011 episode of “Secret Life of the American Teenager.” Amy and Ricky got chewed out by Ricky’s mothers for moving in together without telling them first. Margaret, Ricky’s foster mom, and Nora, his birth mom, weren’t mad that they moved in together, just that they had to find out from other sources. At first Ricky suspected Adrian of spilling the beans. Margaret would not reveal her source. People would stop telling her stuff if she did. Later, Ricky figures out it was George.
Betty may have worked small wonders for Adrian in last week’s episode, but Grace’s news really perks Adrian up. When Adrian wishes everyone could be like Betty, Grace says she is like Betty: “the old Betty.” Grace had sex with another volunteer in Zimbabwe, and she thinks she’s in love with him!
Grant, the boyfriend she was supposed to come back to, will be the last to find out. Jack, her boyfriend before Grant, is living in Grace’s house so naturally he finds out first, but Grace warns him not to tell anyone.
Leo goes to Ben’s school to talk to him about Camille, and ends up in a conversation with the guidance counselor, Katelyn. Ben can’t believe Leo showed up at school to talk about Camille. Leo gets his butcher shop manager, Bunny, to cover temporarily, but goes over to ask Camille to come back. She has already taken another job, but makes it plain that she wouldn’t come back anyway. But when they say goodbye, she kisses Leo on the lips. Is Camille saying she won’t be in his life as an employee ever again? You betcha and that is going to spell D-I-V-O-R-C-E for Betty and Leo.
And speaking of breakups, Nora broke up with her girlfriend, Ollie. “She wanted a wedding and marriage and she wanted to invite friends and family, and I didn’t.” She thinks Ricky will find out that Amy isn’t going to be happy just living together for long either. To make matters worse, when Ricky asks Ben why Camille quit after 25 years, Ben puts him through a multiplication test then asks if he can imagine spending 9,131 days with anyone. “I can even stand to think about that,” Ben says, “It’s like staring into a giant black hole in the universe and watching your entire life get sucked through before you can even grab on to it for the ride.” Ben says he wants out and it’s killing him. He asks Ricky to tell Adrian.
Kathleen is shocked when Grace blurts out that she slept with her friend in Zimbabwe. Grace thought Jeff already told Kathleen. (How did Jeff know?) “You can’t just sleep with every guy you meet,” Kathleen says. “This is going to be the last one,” Grace says. The funniest part was when Jack walks in and says “So you cheated, huh? So it’s easier than you thought, isn’t it?” He says he used to be like that until he met someone he really loves. “You’d cheat with me if I let you,” Grace scoffs and kisses him on the lips to make her point. Later after Daniel comes over and Grant comes by, she breaks the news. Grace is taken aback when Grant says he hopes they can remain friends. “Wait a minute,” she says, “That’s a little bit too nice. What did you do?” Maybe he’s been seeing his old girlfriend Angie.
Ben comes home to find Adrian looking lovely for the first time since Mercy’s death. Adrian says she won’t blame him if he wants to leave but she doesn’t want him to leave. She kisses him and he says “I can’t. I can’t heal you. I can’t stay with you. I can’t be with you. I’m sorry. I can’t.” Adrian says, “Of course you can, and I’ll make it all worth it.” As Ben responds to her kisses, she smiles: “Was that a maybe?”
