In the August 8th episode of “Secret Life,” doubt overcomes Amy when Adrian realizes it’s not another baby she really wants. Betty tells Leo she knows how he feels and she’s cool with it and the Shakurs have a private party.

The episode opens with Adrian seeing Dr. Ottavi, who is appalled to learn of Adrian’s new baby plan. The doc points out that she can make a new plan where she focuses on what she really wants. “You know, if I was 30,” Adrian says, “you wouldn’t be coming up with this whole ‘me’ plan. You would be telling me to try again — with my husband.” The doc says Adrian needs to thinks about herself and things like “your career, your education, your independence, your freedom, your own life …” the doctor enumerates. “And Ricky,” Adrian finishes and sails off to implement her new plan.

Ben is with Dr. Fields, revealing how he found out about Adrian’s plan to have another baby. Leo told him. He gets a call to come home right away from Adrian and jokes about it, saying “maybe she’s ovulating.” Dr. Fields is not amused but Ben tells him to lighten up: “We’re not going to make the same mistake again.”

When Adrian tells Ben he can move out, he refuses to move and drops the bomb on her that he knows all about the pregnancy plot and traces it all the way back to Grace. Adrian calls Grace and breaks off their friendship. Grace calls Amy and tells her Adrian is coming after Ricky. Ben invites Henry and Alice over and tells them how he was initially flattered by Adrian’s plan. Now it hurts to know he wasn’t what she really wanted. Ruben finds Adrian at his home and immediately divines her plan to go after Ricky since she is staring out the window at the Juergens house.

Nora is over at the Juergens with Ricky and Amy because Margaret wanted some alone time with her husband. George comes in after being kicked out of Palm Springs by Anne. They can’t believe it when Adrian drops by. Rather than slam the door in her face, Amy invites her in. Adrian confides that it’s over between her and Ben, pointedly letting Ricky know she’s very available. Disgusted, Ricky leaves and Amy lights into her. “You know what? You can’t have him. You know what else? He doesn’t want you. So don’t even try.” Adrian says she doesn’t even have to try. She plants the destructive seed: “Just check his phone.”

Ruben begs Ben not to leave and to help Adrian. She comes in during the conversation and tells Ben that she loves Ricky, she’s always loved Ricky and somehow, she’s going to be with him — someday.

Ben really is upset and he tells her the same thing he always tells Amy. That Ricky is not good enough for her. He believes Adrian has enough good in her to someday overcome the bad in her. Ha! We used to think that too.

Ben goes home where Leo reminds him to be grateful he has the prenup.

Betty comes in as Ben is about to remind his Leo that he’s staying in a marriage he’d rather not be in. When Betty and Leo are alone, Betty asks him how he would feel if she left. Betty says “I’ve been around a lot of men, you know, so much so that I know that you’re not happy. And it’s okay, it’s really okay. If you’re not happy, I can leave.” She reminds him that they have a pre-nup and she would be “ecstatic” to take the money and say “thank you very much.” She would go to college. Leo is so blown away, all he can do is shake his head. Awww! We don’t want Betty to go. We like Betty the best of all the Secret Life Moms, even if she is just a step-mom.

George agrees to rent Ashley’s room to Nora. They are enjoying Meat Scrap Sandwiches (the meat scraps that were meant for Moose the Dog) when they inform Ricky of their new living arrangement. Ricky is leaving because he needs alone time, even though Amy begs him not to go. Alone, Amy guesses Ricky’s pass code is their son’s name J-O-H-N and listens to his cell phone messages from Adrian when Ricky returns and catches her. As Ricky storms off, Amy yells at George: “I don’t even know why I try. Nobody in this family can even have a relationship.” She includes Nora: “Or your family either.”

Cut to the party at the Shakur household, Margaret and Shakur are cutting the rug to the tune of the Dominoes’ “Sixty Minute Man”

Next week: Ricky won’t let Amy come back. Leo gives Adrian the condo with everything in it AND including utilities and Ben lets her keep her ring. Grace enlists Daniel’s help in fixing Adrian up with someone.
