Secret Life: 4-1-1 Recap
In 4-1-1, the 10th episode of Season 4 of “Secret Life,” they brought in two more characters to an already totally overcrowded cast. Well, actually, Betty is leaving for college after she and Leo get a divorce, but that will probably bring back Camille.
Dante (Bow Wow) was introduced as a friend of Daniel, an unlikely candidate for Adrian to make Ricky jealous. We’re so tired of the ‘Adrian is a big ho’ storyline — but they play it for all its worth. She not only propositioned Grace’s exes (Jack and Grant), Grace finds out she even called Daniel. Then after she sleeps with Ben, Grace and Daniel fix her up with Dante, who is a player. They should have Adrian diagnosed with some treatable condition to curtail her shameless behavior.
Ethan (Michael Grant) was another gratuitous character who added nothing special to the Ricky/Amy drama except to be over at Ricky’s when Amy works up the nerve to show up. Ethan is a foster kid who was living with the Shakurs until he stole some of the doctor’s antique scalpels. He got $100 for them and bought some sneakers. Now he is in trouble because he circulated a nude picture of a girl who sent it to him. He is a minor and needs someone to be his guardian. Ricky’s not having it, but he gets Margaret to step up. She enlists Ruben to help out, too.
We also learned that Bunny has two hot daughters (“It’s a blessing and a curse”) who go to all girls private school and wear chastity belts. Just kidding, we made up the last part, but Bunny did squirrel them away to keep them chaste. “That’s gonna make them gay,” Nora kids.
The question du jour is does everybody go through everyone else’s texts and messages. The answer is yes, but then, as Madison points out, you have to pretend you got any information you learned some other way. Ricky claims he was saving Adrian’s messages to prove he did not respond to any of them. Yeah, okay.
The Ricky and Amy drama was quite predictable. First Ricky was mad at Amy. She turned the tables and was mad at him. Then they made up. Adrian sends a message showing Ricky where she wants to get a tattoo. “Sooner or later,” Ricky says, “we’ve got to get a sense of humor about Adrian.” Ricky says he is all done with crazy and Amy says she can be crazy too, if that’s what he likes. “If you’re not done with crazy,” she says, “let me be crazy for you. Don’t go to Adrian.” Her idea of crazy is getting twin wedding bands tattoos. Ricky says she needs a little more practice at being crazy. But he was willing to say he wants to get married “someday” in exchange for one of George’s T-bones.
Just in case you forgot these characters:
Ashley and Toby are signing up for a experimental program for people who are depressed. Toby points out they are not depressed, but for $500, Ashley says she can be depressed — until Toby reads the side effects. “This medication could cause irregular heartbeat, liver failure or could even result in death.” They leave.
