Natalie Wood Remembered by Robert Wagner
Actress Natalie Wood, whose given name was Natalia, was originally billed as Natasha Gurdin as a young child.
Actor, Robert Wagner, was Natalie’s husband, not once but two times. In his memoir, “Pieces of My Heart,” Wagner talks about their relationship, and how after the breakup of their first marriage, Natalie took up with actor Warren Beatty. RJ (Robert Wagner’s nickname) was so jealous that he took to hanging around outside Warren Beatty’s house with a gun!
Natalie Wood Case Re-Opened
They fell in love all over again and remarried ten years later. That marriage ended with Natalie’s tragic drowning.
Natalie Wood co-starred with Warren Beatty in “Splendor in the Grass” in 1961, the same year she played Maria in “West Side Story.”
Gene Kelly was her leading man in “Marjorie Morningstar” and in “Love with the Proper Stranger,” it was Steve McQueen. There is a scene in this film where Natalie is taking a cab home and there’s a billboard advertising a Robert Wagner movie. They were already divorced at this point, but would remarry.
Wagner’s memoir also has a lot to offer for those who are fans of old Hollywood and tells of his one night stand with Joan Crawford and 4 year affair with Barbara Stanwyck.
