Buddy found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Science ‘K’lass” on the 4th clue chosen. He was in the lead with $800. Paul and Erin were both in the hole at minus $200. He bet the $1,000 allowance and he was RIGHT.

WHAT IS A LYRE?

If you look up the word “lyre” in the Online Etymology Dictionary, the first two entries shown are lyre and lyric, and right on the search page, it shows that lyre was first used around the 13th century to mean the musical instrument. Lyric came later in the 16th century and actually referred to a poem. Lyrics, meaning the words of a song, came along in the 19th century.

Paul bet everything and finished with $2,400.

Erin bet $7,403. That brought her up to $16,003.

Buddy bet $401 so he won the semi-final spot with $17,201.

There is only one more quarter-final game so Erin is a shoo-in for a Wild Card at this point and so is Jay Rhee ($16,401).
