Jon Shoup is our new champ with a 1-day total of $14,179. Today he faces competition from these two new players: Tim Wong, from Cambridge, MA and  Anna-Lise Santella, from Trout Valley, IL.

Tim found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Happy Birthday” before the first commercial break. He was in the lead with $800, $400 more than Jon and $600 more than Anna-Lise. He bet $1,000 but the senator part of the clue threw him off the track and he said nothing, so he was WRONG.

Anna-Lise finished in the lead with $6,600. Jon was second with $4,600 and Tim was in the hole to the tune of $200.

Jon found the first Double Jeopardy Daily Double in “The River of History.” He was in second place with $5,000, $1,600 less than the leader Anna-Lise. He bet $1,500 and he was RIGHT.

WHAT IS FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH?

In 1995, Nicolas Cage won Best Actor for his role as Ben Sanderson in “Leaving Las Vegas”; in 2003, Sean Penn won Best Actor for his role as Jimmy Markum in “Mystic River”; and in 2006, Forest Whitaker won Best Actor for his portrayal of dictator Idi Amin in “The Last King of Scotland.”

In “Fast Times,” Sean Penn, of course, played stoned surfer boy Jeff Spicoli; Nicolas Cage played Judge Reinhold’s unnamed friend. Cage was credited with his real name “Nicolas Coppola.” Forest Whitaker played Charles Jefferson.

Tim wrote down “Breakfast Club” but he bet nothing so he finished with $5,800.

Jon got it right. He bet $4,301, finishing with $11,601.

Anna-Lise had the same answer as Tim so she knew that was going to cost her $4,000. She was left with $15,400, enough to win the game even if Jon had bet it all. And we are sure he could appreciate that, having been the runaway winner yesterday. Anna-Lise will be back tomorrow and so will we.

FYI, none of the male actors in “The Breakfast Club” have won Best Actor Oscars so far.
