WHAT IS A BULL MOOSE?

As Alex mentioned, Roosevelt represented the Bull Moose Party — actually the Progressive party, but it got that nickname when someone asked him if he felt he was fit to run for President. He replied he was fit as a bull moose.

On the shooting: “One little-known facet of Milwaukee history, and one that would be extraordinarily well-known had it been successful, is that of the assassination attempt on Theodore Roosevelt here on October 14, 1912…. As he was getting into his vehicle, Roosevelt paused on the floorboards to turn and wave goodbye to well-wishers. Unfortunately, this moment cleared the way for would-be assassin, John Schrank, to take the shot he had been plotting for more than three weeks…. Schrank fired his .38 revolver from close range, hitting Roosevelt in the chest…. (Milwaukee: About.com)

Roosevelt then insisted on either giving his speech or dying. This is the beginning of his 80-minute speech: “Friends, I shall ask you to be as quiet as possible. I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot; but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.” (Bull Moose Speech)

Melissa got it and doubled her money to finish with $17,200.

Deniz thought it was a bear. That cost him $9,500. He finished with $5,900.

Margaret also got it and bet $14,601 so she won her third game with $30,801. That brought her 3-day total up to $48,000.

Major kudos to both ladies on their knowledge and their gutsy bets!
