Final Jeopardy: Events in the Bible (6-11-12)
The Final Jeopardy question (6/11/2012) in the category “Events in the Bible” was:
Acts 1:13 says this event occurred in “an upper room.”
New champ Aaron Cappochi returned today after winning $28,800 on Friday. It’s been a while since anyone won a game with over $25K, hasn’t it? Today Aaron is up against these two new players: Dylan Hume, from Sleepy Hollow, NY and Elaine Moise, from Mountain View, CA.
Dylan found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Spain Killers.” He was in third place with $2,000, $2,800 less than Elaine who was in the lead. He bet it all and he was RIGHT.

Aaron picked up some speed in the category “See-attle” and finished in the lead with $6,800. Elaine was second with $5,400 and Dylan was last with $4,000.
Aaron found the first Double Jeopardy Daily Double in “The British Museum’s History of the World in 100 Objects.” He had $8,000, $2,200 more than Elaine, his closest competitor. He bet $4,500 and he was RIGHT.

Dylan found the last Daily Double in “Words of Love.” He had experienced quite the run of bad luck and was in third place. He had just climbed out of the $1,200 hole and was at $800 but he still decided to bet the $2,000 allowance and risk not being in the Final Jeopardy! round because time was running out. He wasn’t sure what it was and took a guess with “courage” but that was WRONG.
The Gettysburg Address speaks of “the last full measure of” this committed emotion. show
There was only time for one more clue but no one knew it so Aaron finished in the lead with a more than healthy $21,300. Elaine was second with $6,600. Dylan had minus $1,200 so he had to say goodbye.
We don’t think either contestant got Final Jeopardy! right even though they said one did. The scriptural reference in the clue was incorrect. Here’s what really takes place in Acts I:
WHAT IS THE CHOOSING OF A NEW TWELFTH APOSTLE?
Elaine wrote down “The Last Supper” which was pronounced correct. She bet $6,500 and finished with $13,100. The scriptural references for the Last Supper are in the gospels: Matthew 26:17-30, Mark 14:12-26, Luke 22:7-39 and John 13:1-17:26. There is also a reference to it in Paul’s First Epistle to the Corinthians (11:23-26), but not in Acts.
Aaron wrote down Pentecost which was pronounced incorrect. His $6,001 bet was deducted and he was pronounced the winner with $15,299 and a 2 day total of $44,099. Pentecost takes place in Acts 2.
Then Alex Trebek said “If that Final Jeopardy! seemed a little strange, it’s because it was. We messed up. We were thinking of one thing and referencing something else. Fortunately, it did not affect the outcome of the game. We are crediting Aaron with a correct response and we will be awarding him $12,002.”
So Aaron’s real total today is $27,301 and his real 2-day total: $56,101. Yowza!
