New champ Richard Block is back today to try to add to yesterday’s winnings of $12,001. His challengers are: Rene Cardenas, from San Jose, CA and  Susan Bowyer, originally from Ripley, WV.

Richard found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “OED Top Sources” before the first commercial break. He was in second place with $1,400, $1,200 less than Rene. He made it a true Daily Double and despite a massive effort, he just blanked out so he was WRONG.

Rene finished in the lead with $3,800. Susan was second with $2,000 and Richard was last with $800.

Richard found the first Double Jeopardy Daily Double in “World Science Festival.” He was still in last place with $3,600, $3,400 less than Rene in the lead and $2,400 less than Susan who got in the lead at one point. He bet $2,400 and he was RIGHT.

Rene found the last Daily Double in “Here’s What’s Happening at 11.” He now had $10,200, a $3,000 lead over Susan. He bet $600, and incredibly, he said Pius IX. Close, but WRONG.

We’ve got this info in a Boardwalk Empire post about the D’Alessio brothers: from 1846 to 1958, the Popes’ names were Pius, Leo, Pius, Benedict, Pius, Pius. Pius IX became Pope in 1846.

Rene finished in the lead with $13,200. Susan was next with $10,400 and Richard was in third place with $8,000.

WHAT IS RICHMOND, VA?

John Adams (2nd President) and John Quincy Adams (6th) are buried in their family crypt beneath the United First Parish Church in Quincy, MA.

John F. Kennedy (35th President) and William Howard Taft (27th) are buried at Arlington.

James Monroe (4th President) and John Tyler (10th) are buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.

Richard wrote down Albany, NY. 6 Presidents are buried in New York. Chester A. Arthur is buried in Albany Rural Cemetery. He bet $2,400 so he finished with $5,600.

Susan thought it was Columbus, Ohio and she bet $10,300 on it. 5 Presidents are buried in Ohio, but none in Columbus. She finished with $100.

Rene wrote down Boston, MA. The Adamses are the only ones buried in Massachusetts. He bet $8,000 so he wound up with $5,200, and Richard became a two-day champ by a margin of $400.

Richard’s 2-day total is $17,601.
