Final Jeopardy: Awards
The Final Jeopardy question (5/14/2012) in the category “Awards” was:
This performer is the only person to win an Emmy, the Mark Twain Prize & the Spingarn Medal.
The Teen Tournament has wrapped up but Jeopardy! is still in Washington, DC, at Constitution Hall. We’re beginning a whole week of Power Players, who are playing for charity. Today’s contestants are: Robert Gibbs, Obama’s former White House Press Secretary, Lizzy O’Leary, Aviation and Regulation Correspondent on CNN; and Chris Matthews, host of “Hardball.”
Chris found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Secretary’s Day” before the first commercial break. He had $1,000 to Robert’s $200. Lizzy didn’t have shizzie yet. He bet $500.00 and he was RIGHT.

Robert finished in the lead with $4,400. Chris was second with $3,900 and Lizzie was last with $3,600.
Chris found the first Double Jeopardy Daily Double in “Composers.” He was in last place, and we mean last, with $2,300. He was $10,500 behind Robert and $11,700 less than Lizzie who was in the lead. “What the heck,” he said, bet it all, and he was RIGHT.

And that was that. The buzzer went off and we didn’t get to the second Daily Double. Lizzie was in the lead with $14,000. Robert was next with $12,800 and Chris now had $4,600.
NONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
Bill Cosby won 3 primetime Emmys consecutively (1967, ’68 and ’69) for his role as Alexander Scott in “I Spy” in the category Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Dramatic Series. He got the Spingarn Medal in 1985 and he was presented with the 12th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2009. (More awards and honors conferred upon Bill Cosby)
Chris wrote down Mary Tyler Moore, so he lost his $2,300 bet. (Surprised he didn’t bet it all? — We were.) He finished with $2,300.
Robert didn’t have any idea, so he lost $7,200 and finished with $5,600.
Lizzy said Tina Fey. That cost her $9,800, leaving her with $4,200.
So Robert Gibbs won the game and his charity, THE PINE HILLS LITERACY PROJECT, will get $50,000.
Chris Matthew and Lizzy O’Leary played for La Salle College High School and 826DC, respectively, and their charities will each receive $10,000.
