WHAT ARE “LES MISERABLES” AND “PHANTOM OF THE OPERA”?
“Les Miz” won several awards in 1987 including Best Musical, Best Book for a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical and Best Original Score.
“Phantom” 1988 honors included Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical. (“Into the Woods” won Best Book and Best Original Score.)
Jessamine got them both and bet $4,001. She finished with $9,201.
Vijay wrote down “La Boheme” and “The Producers.” He lost $3,000 and finished with $6,200.
David had “Les Miserables” and a big blank line for the other one. He bet $9,600, and wound up in third place with $2,000.
So despite that tough break on the last Daily Double, Jessamine’s knowledge of musical theater made her day and she was all smiles to find she won the game. Nice going!
