Final Jeopardy: Oscars ( (10-13-11)
The Final Jeopardy question (10/13/2011), in the category The Oscars, was:
“This performer is the only person to win Oscars for acting and also songwriting”
Katie Proctor returned Thursday, after defeating Joon Pahk yesterday to take on challengers, Liz Good and Drew Denton. How close can she come to Joon’s 7-day record?
In the Jeopardy round, the challengers weren’t even getting a chance as Katie swept through Video Game History and proceeded on with One Good Turn. She got the Daily Double in that category, and at this point, Drew had missed the only answer he rang in on and was at minus $200. Liz didn’t have a clue yet! Then she got the $1,000 clue in One Good Turn correct. This round ended with $1,400 each for Drew and Liz. Katie had a whopping $12,400.
Drew got to choose first in Double Jeopardy, even though he and Liz were tied. Don’t ask us why cuz we don’t know. Drew also got the first Daily Double in Double Jeopardy and bet it all, bringing him to $5,200. Katie got the second Daily Double, wagering $1,600 and won.
Drew finished in third place with $5,200. Liz surely knew her opera and that helped her finish with $10,600. Katie went into Final Jeopardy with $32,400. She’s a serious and good player. Maybe she’ll be around next week, eh?
In one of those strange twists, Drew was the only one who got the correct answer:
“Who is Barbara Streisand?”
Liz did not write anyone down nor did she bet anything, so she remained in second place. Katie bet a bit more than she should have — $7,600 — and guessed Sinatra. This brought her down to $24,800 and a 2-day total of $51, 201.
Wasn’t that last Double Jeopardy clue in Homonym Fill-ins the weirdest ever?
“Listening to the facts spouted by the just-arrived talking antelope, I couldn’t believe what the ____ ____ ____.” Feel free to post the answer in the comments.
