Final Jeopardy: 19th Century Literature (10-11-11)
The Final Jeopardy question (10/11/2011), in the category 19th Century Literature, was:
““How are you getting on?” said this animal character as soon as there was mouth enough for it to speak with.“
Joon Pahk was back on Jeopardy Tuesday as a 6-time champion. Alex Trebek told new challengers, Michael and Ashley, if they feel intimidated, they should remember this:
“Even Ken Jennings lost a game … eventually.”
Once again, Joon took a commanding lead with a video Daily Double in Round 1. Alex noticed that he has been very successful in finding the Daily Doubles (well, duh, he usually has command of the board) and in answering them, (which may yet prove to be his downfall but not today).
Whoa, Michael got the first Daily Double in Double Jeopardy and doubled his money. Not enough to catch up with Joon, who then cleaned up in the College Sports category. Michael also got the second Daily Double but he lost 5K on it, and there went his hope of catching up. He ended up in third place with $8,200. Ashley had $11,800.
Joon went into Final Jeopardy with $26,400. Need we repeat it again? No one could touch him. He bet $2,700.
All of the contestants got the Lewis Carroll character from “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” correct — The Cheshire Cat. As to the Cat’s disappearing act, here’s what Alice had to say:
“Well! I ‘ve often seen a cat without a grin,” thought Alice; “but a grin without a cat! It’s the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!”
Joon’s 7-day total is $199,000.
