Fergie Owns Royal Snub
Sarah Ferguson, a.k.a Fergie and the Duchess of York, appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show, via videotape, on May 10th and spoke frankly about being left off the invitation list to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding.
The Duchess was one of those “others” who had to be left off the list for some reason, although the reason in this case, Sarah felt, was totally her own fault.
Sarah felt she must bear the shame of her idiocy in trying to sell access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York. She also said that it was hard, because she wanted to be there with her daughters, Beatrice (22) and Eugenie (21), who attended the royal wedding with their father.
She wanted to be “getting them dressed and to go as a family,” Sarah said, wistfully recalling that the last royal bride to walk up the aisle at Westminster Abbey was herself.
When asked if she felt ostracized by the royal snub, she said: “No, not ostracized. I felt that I ostracized myself by my behavior … I sort of wore a hair shirt and beat myself up most of the day thinking and regretting why did I make such a mistake?”
“… [it] was quite right they didn’t invite me. Why would they?” Ferguson asked.
Well, one reason might have been to show a spirit of forgiveness.
But as royal revenge goes, we suppose she got off light. A few centuries ago, they would have chopped her head off and stuck it on a pike.
