Randy Bachman and Fred Turner will be inducted into the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame in March 2011, according to a recent press release on Newswire Canada, which says that Randy Bachman is often called the “architect of Canadian rock n’ roll.” Randy was a founding member and creative force behind The Guess Who and was acknowledged 8 times in the recent book, “The Top 100 Canadian Singles,” with over 120 platinum, gold and silver certifications, and number one radio hits in more than 20 countries to his credit.
Teaming up with Fred Turner in the 70s to form Bachman-Turner Overdrive, the group sold in excess of 30 million records over a four-year run with their popular hits: “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”, “Taking Care of Business,” “Hey You,” “Let It Ride” and “Looking Out for #1.”
The newly reunited Randy Bachman and Fred Turner will be making a rare appearance with a performance of select hits at the March 2011 ceremony in Toronto.
Stephen Sohn, former Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences chair Stephen Stohn, entertainment lawyer and TV producer for shows like Degrassi: The Next Generation and the Juno Awards; and radio broadcasting pioneer Bill Evanov will also be inducted into he Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame.
