Wasting no time gearing up toward Christmas, USA Network had two specials on tonight: Monk and our favorite private investigators, Shawn Spencer (James Roday) and Burton “Gus” Guster (Dule Hill) in Psych.

If you missed it, not to worry. USA reruns shows so frequently, you’re bound to catch it. We know, because we happened to be in Houston when Hurricane Ike was approaching during the last episode shown in September. Halfway through the show, the cable went out. Later on, same thing with the electricity. The next day, the lights came back on fairly early, and the cable was back in time for us to see the rest of the show in the afternoon.

As a result, we will always associate Shawn and Gus with Hurricane Ike and we know you would too, if that had happened to you.

It’s hard to pick a favorite character — they all have shiny moments on the show, but if we had to, we’d pick Shawn’s Dad.
