The Final Jeopardy question (9/25/2013) in the category “20th Century Names” was:

New champ Neal Pollack won $26,000 yesterday. Today he takes on these two players: Eric Winschel, from Pasadena, CA; and Kamal Foreman, from Smyrna, GA.

Eric found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “One Nation” before the first break. He was in third place with $1,200, $1,400 behind Neal’s lead. He bet it all and he was RIGHT.

Eric finished in the lead with $7,000. Kamal was second with $4,800 and Neal was last with $3,000.

Neal found the first Double Jeopardy Daily Double in “Authors on Authors.” It was the $2,000 clue and the first one he picked so everyone still had the same dough listed above. He bet it all but thought it was Thor Heyerdahl. That was WRONG.

WHO IS FRANK ZAMBONI?

American inventor, Frank Joseph Zamboni, Jr., invented the modern ice resurfacer. He received many accolades during his lifetime and also posthumously for his achievements. Here is one of the Fun Facts for game lovers on Zamboni.com: In 2000, the Zamboni machine was immortalized as an authentic Monopoly® board game token in the NHL version of the game.

Eric wrote down “Gordie Howe.” He lost $9,000 and finished with $400.

Neal got it right and added $9,999 to his score to finish with $19,999.

Kamal wrote down “Bauer”. She lost her $4,801 bet so she finished with $10,399.

So Neal won his second game with a very respectable total despite those two bad breaks in Double Jeopardy! Great job, Neal! His 2-day total is $45,999.
