Final Jeopardy: Classic Films (9-23-13)

The Final Jeopardy question (9/23/2013) in the category “Classic Films” was:

The first scene of this movie was shot on the first day of filming, Oct. 2, 1960 at 5 a.m. at 727 5th Avenue at 57th Street in New York City.

New champ Matt Volk defeated a 6-day champ on Friday and won $15,400. Today he takes on these two players: Stephanie Femrite Stevens, from Arbutus, MD and Collin Adams, from Pollocksville, NC.

Stephanie found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Broadway.” She was in the lead with $4,800, $200 ahead of Collin in second place. She bet $500 and she was RIGHT.

Theater-goers are dancing in the aisles at “Motown: the Musical” about this record company founder and his legendary artists.

Stephanie finished in the lead with $6,100. Collin was second with $4,600 and Matt was last with $4,400.

Collin found the first Double Jeopardy Daily Double in “Anthropologist’s Dictionary.” He was in second place with $9,800 when he found it, but was awarded a correct answer from an answer previously judged wrong, so he was now in the lead with $11,400, $1,140 ahead of Matt who was now in second place. He bet $1,000 and said “panentheism.” That was WRONG.

It’s the “ism” defined as the belief that creatures & natural objects have souls.

And that was the end of the round. Collin finished in the lead with $11,800. Matt was next with $10,400 and Stephanie was in third place with $5,700.

Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT IS “BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S”?

“Since 1940, Tiffany’s flagship store has been located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in Manhattan, New York City, U.S. The polished granite exterior is well known for its window displays, and the store has been the location for a number of films, including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, starring Audrey Hepburn, and Sweet Home Alabama, starring Reese Witherspoon.” (wikipedia)

Stephanie thought it was “West Side Story.” That cost her $5,699 and she finished with a dollar.

Matt got it right and added $8,600. He finished with $19,000.

Collin had “West Side Story” too. So he lost $10,400 and ended up with $1,400.

So Matt won his second game, much to his delight. His two day total is $34,400.

yeah, I know what you mean. Today, it was nuts how Matt drew a complete blank on the obvious in that “Oy” Veh category with coy.

just saying this because by chance i knew all the answers in that category, although NOT connected to hawaii……funny how you sometimes come up with the most strange answers and get a complete blank at something incredibly obvious…..
