Final Jeopardy: Art Subjects (5-23-13)

The Final Jeopardy question (5/23/2013) in the category “Art Subjects” was:

In 1860, Francisco Goya published a series of 33 etchings called “La Tauromaquia”, depicting this activity.

Today’s new champ is Scott Singer, who won $40,401 yesterday, double what Alex Trebek usually considers a good day’s haul. If he can duplicate that feat today, he will jump right into the TOC. But first, he’s got to successfully defend against these two players: Mike Lewis, from Bloomington, MN; and Julia Lent, originally from Shippensburg, PA.

Julia found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “The Vice Presidency” with clues read by Vice President Joe Biden. It was very early and she was in a tie for the lead with Mike at $400. Scott had nothing so far. She bet the whole $1,000 allowance and she was RIGHT.

Scott finished in the lead with $7,000. Mike was second with $4,200 and Julia was last with $3,000.

Great googlamoogla. Just when we thought that anyone who knows the Zodiac signs could figure this one out even if they didn’t know Goya from Gauguin, only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT IS BULLFIGHTING?

Julia kind of gave up in Double Jeopardy and she didn’t even venture a guess in FJ. But she bet $1,000, so she finished with $5,200.

Scott wrote down “The Spanish Inquisition.” That cost him $4,001 and he finished with $16,999.

Mike was the one who got it right. He added $10,000 to his score and won the game with $35,000. And, once again, we have got a new champ. Mike Lewis will return tomorrow and if he can win a second game, he’ll be the only one who did this week!
