Rachel Eastwood took over the Jeopardy! champ title yesterday by virtue of her knowledge of French literature. She won $20,000. Today she is up against these two players: Scott Singer from Boca Raton, FL; and Cecily Squier from Austin, TX.

Cecily found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Annual Events.” She was in second place with $2,200, $800 behind Scott and Rachel, who were tied for the lead. She bet $1,000 and she was RIGHT.

Rachel finished in the lead with $7,000. Cecily was second with $5,400 and Scott was last with $4,400.

Scott, who is an attorney, immediately went for the $2,000 clue in Supreme Court Cases for his first pick and it was the first Double Jeopardy Daily Double! So the scores were exactly the same as above. He bet $3,000 and he was RIGHT.

Scott found the last Daily Double in “The Quotable Dickens.” He was in third place with $11,400 when he found it, $400 behind Cecily in second place. He was then awarded $2,400 on a prior answer judged wrong and that put him in second place with $13,800, $6,400 less than Rachel’s lead. He bet $9,000 and he was RIGHT.

Scott finished in the lead with $22,800. Rachel was next with $20,200 and Cecily was in third place with $12,200.

ALL of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right, as you probably expected.

Rachel bet $9,800 and finished with $30,000.

Scott made the biggest bet — $17,601 — so he finished with $40,401 and became the third Jeopardy! champ of the week.
