Final Jeopardy: World Leaders

The Final Jeopardy question (4/6/2012) in the category “World Leaders” was:

Names of the pair seen here, who’ve been spending a lot of time together

3-day champ Joey Falco who won $3,999 yesterday. Today’s new players are: Lisa Lyons from Van Nuys, CA and Bing Huo, from Sunnyvale, CA.

Joey found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “He Signed the Declaration of Independence” near the end of the round. He had $4,200, $1,400 more than Lisa in second place. He went with a $3,000 bet and he guessed “Adams” which was WRONG.

He presided over debates that resulted in the Declaration, & 2 of his descendants became President.

Joey wasn’t the only one who took a bit of a shellacking towards the end. Bing did, too, so Lisa finished in the lead with $2,800. Joey had $1,200 and Bing was in the hole to the tune of -$200.

Lisa found the first Daily Double in Double Jeopardy! in “Literary Links.” She was now in the lead with $11,600, $6,400 more than Joey in second place. She bet $4,500. She had no idea but ventured “Piazza” at Trebek’s urging. That was WRONG.

Bing found the second Daily Double in “Mnemonics.” Man, but these scores were tight now! Bing was in the middle with $7,800. Lisa had $100 more and Joey had $100 less. He bet $2,800 and he was RIGHT.

Bing finished in the lead with $12,600. Lisa still had $7,900 and Joey still had $7,600.

ALL of the players got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHO ARE NICOLAS SARKOZY AND ANGELA MERKEL?

German Chancellor Angela Merkel endorsed French President Nicolas Sarkozy during a joint television interview last month. Sarkozy formally announced his re-election bid shortly thereafter. The two leaders have worked so closely to overcome the euro zone’s debt crisis that they have become known by the joint nickname “Merkozy”. (Reuters)

Joey bet it all and finished with $15,200.

Lisa bet $5,188 and finished with $13,088.

Bing bet $3,201 and won the game with $15,801. Most impressive because he began this round in the hole. Just goes to show ya, things can turn around on Jeopardy! quicker than Alex Trebek can say “bouleverser.”
