WHAT IS CHARLOTTE’S WEB?

E. B. White originally planned to give Charlotte the last name Epeira. But in John Henry Comstock’s “The Spider Book,” he learned that Epeira was a much later name given to Charlotte’s genus. He found the perfect middle initial and last name, as well as a detailed description of his heroine:

Aranea cavatica (a. ca-vat-i-ca) — This spider is dirty white in colour with grayish markings. The abdomen is clothed with numerous whitish or gray hairs, which give it in life a grayish appearance; this is not so marked in alcoholic specimens …”

Michael wagered every penny he had and finished with $15,200.

Jesse bet $6,001 and finished with $15,201.

Joey bet $6,800 and won the game with an even $20,000. If he had bet an extra buck, his two day total would be $24,000 but he didn’t so it’s $23,999.
