Two-day champ Kirby Burnett returned today for his third shot at beating two contestants. The two in Kirby jeopardy today were: Christen Lee from Richmond, CA. and Taylor Cope from Chicago, IL.

Christen found the Daily Double in the Jeopardy! round in the category “Bird Books.” She was in the lead with $4,400, $1,800 more than her nearest competitor, Taylor. She bet $2,400 and she was RIGHT.

In Double Jeopardy, Taylor found the first Daily Double in “More 4 Years.” He was in second place with $8,200, $1,200 less than Christen and $5,200 less than Kirby, who was now in the lead. Taylor bet $2,200. He took a guess with “blasphemy,” but that was WRONG.

Christen got the last Daily Double in “Plant Science.” She was only $1,600 behind Kirby’s lead of $14,600. She bet $6,000. She was RIGHT and jumped into the lead with $19,000.

WHO IS PELÉ (Edson Arantes do Nascimento)?

The shirt worn by Pelé in the 1970 World Cup final was auctioned in London for a record $220,850 – more than 3 times the expected price. The No. 10 Brazilian jersey was bought by an unidentified telephone bidder in the sale at Christie’s. The previous record for a soccer shirt was $128,450. Click here (Voices of America) to find out who wore that one. (Hint: It wasn’t Christen’s answer).

Kirby got it right and bet every centavo on hand. He doubled his score to $27,600.

Taylor also had it, bet everything and took over the lead with $28,000.

Christen wrote down “Lemieux” and bet $4,601. Can you believe she finished in third place with $18,799!

Can’t recall when we last saw such huge second and third place scores, even though they don’t get to collect it.
